Footnote

writing

If I am lucky, I might end up a footnote somewhere. But I have never had that kind of luck. The luck everyone who stepped over me has had.

I was naive. I believed that if I helped people, they too would help me. Pay it forward. They took my kind words, my encouragement, my spotlighting of their work, and once they got what they wanted they shut the door in my face. You’d never know we were ever friends, before they entered the lighted circle of their peers. They bask in success, in money. I can barely afford supplies. I was left with nothing.

They will never understand what they did. They will never care. After all, I’m barely a footnote.

Private Agony x sadly my Uniball Signo went dry so I wasn’t quite able to finish the hair. Oh well.

Blessed with luck.

Those who were lucky have a certain smugness about them. It’s a stench only the cursed can smell, but by God can we ever sniff it out with the accuracy of a bloodhound.

It’s not their fault. They were lucky, they have faced minimal struggle, life truly is as easy as the little platitudes they offer. Trying to explain the all crushing despair of self-hatred and struggles the cursed have, the poverty because life just doesn’t care, is like speaking to them in an alien language.

We who are cursed are doomed to die early by our own hands. And we can never make the lucky understand or care about us.
